Yet another horrible thing 2020 has given us. Well it took a few days to actually sink in. Hard to believe that Eddie Van Halen is gone. Damn you cancer!!! You watch all those videos that are online now and he just looks like he’s indestructible! Looks like he would be forever young. The first VH album came out BEFORE I was even in broadcasting! BUT…not long after I was honored to play EVERY VH song that came out on the air. I’ve got to be honest…not ONE of them was a disappointment! Then, Sammy enters and takes them to another level. But through it all Eddie still stood front and center in the band as THEE figure. He WAS Van Halen. People went to the shows to see Eddie. People watched all the MTV videos to see Eddie. I’ve read articles where guys would buy an Eddie Van Halen guitar and then start to immediately distress it with a knife or whatever to make it look exactly like Eddie’s warn out models that he played on stage. An icon…a one of a kind…THAT was Eddie Van Halen. RIP Eddie and yes I had VH music cranked up in the car and in the house this weekend. A bit sad but for the most part thinking a big THANK YOU for being a part of our lives with your incredible talents.
