Birthdays

Another birthday gone by and this one was special. I usually don’t go nuts over birthdays at this point. Over the last 18 years or so I’ve spent my birthday at the Hodag Country Festival working for the radio stations. Now don’t get me wrong…it’s pretty cool to spend your birthday with 30,000 people for sure. The folks that own the festival are always SO nice each year, the folks attending the Hodag and last year my two daughters came up on stage and surprised (shocked) me and showed up. Not many people can celebrate a birthday like that. It is VERY cool for sure! This year with the Hodag Fest postponed to next year I celebrated my birthday in Merrimac, Wisconsin. Just me, my brother, nephew and niece with her two kids. 5 people and me! Quite a change from the norm but it was great! TOTAL relaxing on the shores of Lake Wisconsin. Just time well spent with family. JUST what the doctor ordered! Next years Hodag Fest will have my birthday the Monday AFTER the Hodag so it will be another year without the crowd of folks. I may just head to Merrimac again!! Birthdays as we get older are usually not a big deal but I’ve been blessed with some pretty good ones at the Hodag Fest and this year I was blessed with a relaxing time with family. Happy Birthday Duff….YOU OLD FART!!!
