I think maybe I should just say….”It’s Back!” I was at a big box store the other day and almost snapped my neck when I turned my cart down the isle with DVDs and spotted a shelf of ALBUMS!!!! Yes…RECORDS!!!! Classic Rock selections. It’s back…and there was even a gentleman thumbing thru them. Now…only problem? Years ago..the record companies sent us “Program Directors” catalogs and told us that the new technology in CDs is going to make albums obsolete. SO…a perk of radio was the option to order a few CDs every week for my personal library. Thinking the new technology was so cool I decided to tell a friend of mine that he was welcome to come over to my man cave and get ALL THESE ALBUMS out of my house!! I was so glad when he came over and loaded up the 1000 plus albums that took up all that room. Yes…Beatle albums that were still un-opened…most of the collection in great shape but seemed so old and outdated. See ya albums…I’m replacing you with these neat little digital discs and couldn’t be happier. Well, fast forward 28 or so years and I get tears in my eyes when I think about it. No…at this point I won’t be starting over…it’s too painful. Oh ya…back then I laughed and sold my professional turntable for like $50 bucks. One that I had purchased for over $250 and worth much more today. Regrets?? You damn right. If I still had all those albums I would gladly invest another great turntable. Now with CDs becoming obsolete will I do the same and have someone come and pick up the 2000 in my collection? HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Not on your LIFE….they are locked up to be passed on to my daughters cause ya never know what they may be worth someday. Even if they aren’t I’m not taking that chance again. (Painful) Lesson learned
