Thanks Eddie

Thanks Eddie

By now I’m sure everybody is aware of the passing of Eddie Money.  I had Eddie Money do a Star Party in Wausau years ago.  Da Yoopers opened up for him.  Yes, Da Yoopers!  Then Mitch Malloy got the small, by invite only crowd going and ready for Eddie.  It was in a party room at the old Holiday Inn in Wausau and probably only about 200 people there.  Eddie’s family was there including the kids who were quite young.  Then, in 1995 it was my last day at WIFC and Eddie Money stopped by.  He was with his manager and my friend Rick Cooper.  Eddie did an interview with midday Gal Dee Dee Meyer and then we headed to my house in Rib Mountain.  Had a little lunch and sang some Eddie Money songs.  I could go on and on but the point to this whole story is Eddie was a down to earth, real guy.  He was like that old friend you had in school as a kid.  Funny and always had a quick comeback.  What you see on his reality show is what you get with Eddie.  With all that Eddie loved his craft of music making and did so well at it. He was a great musician and yes he did play instruments.  Eddie loved the saxophone and played it well.  Thanks for all the great music Eddie!!   Although reports are that Eddie died from complications of his heart valve procedure he had this summer which was not related to his cancer.  Either way…Eddie is gone now.  Rest in peace Eddie Money.  Thanks for supplying us with such wonderful musical memories and thanks for being a wonderful, kind human being.

Brats and Cheese Curds

With this week having National Cheese Curd day in it I was wondering a few things.  First…National?  Do they celebrate cheese curds in other states like we do in Wisconsin?  Also, it seems another Wisconsin tradition, the bratwurst is expanding.  You hear more and more mention of those delicious tube steaks cropping up all over…read more »

I’ve been doing this for so many years now.  I won’t share how many because that will date me BUT I can tell you that it’s been a few.  In all those years I’ve met MANY wonderful people.  Listeners can be very fickle.  Especially back in my Top40 years.  You play one song and the…read more »

Congrats…We’re getting old(er)

So with so many of our Classic Rock stars passing away do you find yourself starting to think a little more about it than usual?  I remember years ago not even thinking about it.  Somehow it has a slight impact as of late.  With the passing of Eddie Money I actually deleted the Series DVR…read more »

Dan Rather interviews ROCK STARS?

Dan Rather interviews ROCK STARS?

It’s called The Big Interview with Dan Rather.  NEVER would I have thought these would be interesting.  Nothing against Dan Rather but I just never saw him as a rock fan nor someone who has been in the trenches of Vietnam that would conduct interviews with rock stars.  I gotta tell you….I was wrong.  These…read more »
