It’s no secret that tourism thrives in Wisconsin’s Northwoods. What I think is a cool tradition is an event every Labor Day in Minocqua. Each year there are a couple establishments right along Highway 51 that gather a bunch of folks and they make a day of it. The folks sit out on lawn chairs and wave to all the tourists heading south and YES…it’s a LINE of vehicles heading out of the Northwoods for another summer season and back to the cities for another year of school, work and no more vacation. People honk their horns and the folks sitting in their chairs wave and hold signs that say “Thank You” or “Drive Safe” or “See you next year”. Some people have said…anything to have a party….I say…it’s a cool tradition and an opportunity to say THANK YOU to all the folks that spend time in the Northwoods and help the economy. See you next time you’re up!
